Off the back of a great year for investment in Liverpool, Metro mayor Steve Rotheram ended 2021 by revealing his vision for Liverpool to be a UK innovation powerhouse. Rotheram announced a £10.5m investment to boost innovation in the city region. The investment has created a new company within Health and Life Sciences which will help innovators turn their ideas into high-growth businesses and good quality jobs. The long turn plan is to boost recovery and drive long term growth through investment in research and development, at nearly double the national rate. The plan will initially create up to 100 jobs with many more as the start-up companies grow.
The city has seen huge investment over the past few years, with key events such as 2008 Capital of Culture. Since then Liverpool has continued to grow, expand, renew and develop. The city currently brings in over £1 billion in investment each year.
